Bhubaneswar, June 25: A weather alert has been issued across various districts of Odisha warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning till June 28.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributes this intense weather activity to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the West-Central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, especially along the coastal regions of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha.

This cyclonic system has influenced atmospheric conditions across southern Jharkhand and its neighboring regions, with a trough extending up to 1.5 kilometers above sea level from Northwest Bay of Bengal through Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Northern Odisha.

Persistent rainfall over the past few days has already led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas, disrupting daily life and causing inconvenience to residents. Authorities have urged people to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.
