Rajkot, Sep 24: We have seen multiple reports of people being threatened, kidnapped, or even killed, over arguments on social media. A similar case has been reported from Rajkot in Gujarat.
A 20-year-old migrant worker was killed over a trivial argument over a Facebook story. The victim, identified as Prince Kumar, succumbed to his injuries 10 days after being stabbed.
According to reports, Prince, a native of Bihar, was working at a factory in Rajkot along with his three cousins.
The tragic chain of events commenced when Prince uploaded a story on Facebook in remembrance of his late grandfather Roopnarayan Bhind.
An acquaintance from his native state, Bipin Kumar Rajinder Gond, reacted to the uploaded story with a laughing emoji, sparking a heated verbal altercation between the two over the phone.
According to an FIR, the verbal altercation turned physical on the night of September 12. Prince was sitting in an auto-rickshaw outside his factory when he saw Bipin approaching. He tried to rush into the factory but was blocked by another individual, Brijesh Gond, who threatened to kill him. During the tension Bipin stabbed Prince in the back.

✨Prince screamed in agony. Upon hearing the screams his colleagues rushed to his aid and took him to a nearby hospital. He was later shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital.
According to police, the stab wound was approximately one-and-a-half to two inches deep. Despite the injury, Prince was conscious upon admission and was able to give his statement to the police.
Medical record suggests that Prince’s initial condition was not critical. However, after four days, his health deteriorated and he was moved to the ICU. He fought for his life but eventually passed away at 2:30 am on September 22. The police were informed at 6:35 am.
Following Prince's death, the police, who had already registered a complaint in connection with the attack, added Section 103 (1), relating to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, to the FIR.
The primary accused, Bipin, was arrested on Monday night and presented in court on Tuesday, while the second accused, Brijesh, is currently absconding.
The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to find out the exact cause of Prince's death. Preliminary report suggests that the stab injury and an infection may have led to the unfortunate demise.
