Four Hardcore Maoists Surrender In Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Key Points

The Naxals, including a woman, surrendered before Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan and CRPF officials

Sukma, Apr 5: In a significant development, four hardcore People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Maoists, with a combined bounty of Rs 20 lakh, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.

The Naxals, including a woman, surrendered before Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan and CRPF officials.

The move marks a turning point in the government's anti-Naxal operations and its focus on rehabilitation programs for surrendered extremists. The police expressed optimism that this would encourage more Naxals to lay down their arms and join the mainstream.

Authorities emphasized that the surrender of such key figures indicates the declining influence of Naxal groups in the region, as well as the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency measures.

The surrendered Naxalites were provided assistance of Rs 50,000 each and will be further rehabilitated as per the government's policy.
