Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Admitted To AIIMS In Delhi

Manmohan Singh, who served as the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year.

New Delhi, Dec 26: Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to the emergency department of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi on Thursday evening.

The reason for Singh’s hospitalisation was not immediately known.

In his long political career, Singh was sworn in as Prime Minister on 22nd May after the 2004 general elections and took the oath of office for a second term on 22nd May 2009.

Singh was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1991 to April 2024, where he was Leader of the Opposition between 1998 and 2004. He represented Assam for five terms in the Upper House and shifted to Rajasthan in 2019.

The veteran Congress leader retired from Rajya Sabha in April this year.
