Bhadradri Kothagudem, Aug 27: Eight members of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) surrendered before police in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
All eight individuals hail from the Bijapur region of Chhattisgarh and were active members of Maoist outfits. The surrendered cadres include: SCM Vetti Somda (30), Party Member Muchaki Rakme (27), Militia Commander Wayam Lakshman (23), Militia Member Padiyam Kosa (25), Militia Member Mudam Kosa (30), Militia Member Madavi Nandu (25), Militia Member Karam Somdu (40), Militia Member Madavi Ura (25).
According to reports, internal discrimination within the organisation and sustained pressure from security forces led these individuals to abandon the insurgency and rejoin mainstream society.
The administration has assured them financial assistance and support for rehabilitation and self-reliance.
Since January this year, a total of 314 Naxals have surrendered in Bhadradri Kothagudem district alone, marking a notable shift in the region’s security landscape.
