New Delhi, Jan 13: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired the third meeting of the Standing Committee of the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) here on Tuesday. He reviewed the academic and research outputs of all seven IISERs as well as their future plans.

Pradhan emphasised the need for more student-focused approaches to unleash the full potential of India’s youth. He urged IISERs to engage in outcome-oriented research that contributes to ease of living and societal advancement.

The Standing Committee deliberated on a roadmap to achieve academic and research excellence, enrich student experience, and strengthen the mission of providing world-class scientific education. Pradhan described IISERs as “jewels in the crown of higher education in India,” expressing confidence that each institute would foster a new culture of excellence.

The Minister said IISERs are poised to nurture a new generation of scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs equipped to address national and global scientific challenges. He further said that the institutes will play a pivotal role in enhancing India’s knowledge prowess on the global stage.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to advance scientific research and innovation, with a focus on building a robust ecosystem that supports both academic growth and societal needs.
