Key Points

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan described BJP’s victory in West Bengal as a “historic and decisive mandate,” reflecting people’s faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and vision.
New Delhi, May 5: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, calling it a “historic” and “decisive” mandate that reflects the people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Early results showed the BJP racing ahead in more than 200 seats, well past the majority mark, putting the party on course to form its government in West Bengal for the first time. The outcome signals the end of the Trinamool Congress’ 15-year rule in the state. The BJP is also set to retain power in Assam, while the NDA is poised to return to power in Puducherry.

In a post on X, Pradhan said, “The sacred land of West Bengal has created a new history by giving a massive and decisive mandate, enabling the lotus to bloom in the state for the first time. I extend heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to every citizen for this unparalleled victory.” He added that the success was a testament to the people-centric policies of the central government under Modi’s visionary leadership.

Pradhan credited the BJP’s organizational strength, relentless hard work, and unwavering resolve for the victory. He emphasized that women, youth, and people from all sections of society had “fearlessly triumphed over injustice, anarchy, and an atmosphere of fear” to choose the path of trust, development, and good governance.

He said the mandate would serve as a strong foundation for building a “Sonar Bangla” in line with the vision of Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Pradhan also congratulated Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leaders and workers for their efforts in securing the victory.

In another post, Pradhan expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for granting the BJP a resounding majority for the third consecutive time. He said the electorate had “clearly rejected the Congress’s divisive politics, appeasement, and anti-development mindset” and reaffirmed support for the “Double Engine” government’s commitment to development and welfare.
