Delhi Police remanded CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days’ custody for repeat violations, while Ajinkya Shinde was bound down to maintain peace under a six‑month bond.
New Delhi, Oct 14: Two senior leaders of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were remanded to five days of judicial custody on Wednesday after Delhi Police accused them of repeatedly flouting the law and attempting to incite others.
Police further stated that CJP member Ajinkya Shinde was bound down to maintain “peace and good behaviour” for six months on a personal bond and surety of ₹5,000.
According to officials, on October 13, Das, Ranka, Shinde and 11 other CJP members reached Jantar Mantar, which had been de‑notified as a designated protest site, by trespassing through private premises. “All 14 persons were detained, and FIR No. 289/26 PS Connaught Place u/s 223a/332/61(2) dated 13.10.2026 and FIR No. 128/26 dated 13.10.2026 u/s 221/115(2)/132/121(1)/3(5) PS Parliament Street were registered against them,” the police said in a statement.

✨Officials alleged that the protesters obstructed police personnel in the discharge of their duties. In view of “repeated attempts to disturb public peace and violate the law,” Das, Ranka and Shinde were arrested under preventive provisions. Their “alleged attempts to instigate others through social media to engage in similar unlawful activities” were also taken into account, police added.
The three leaders were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) at Mandir Marg, where proceedings under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were initiated.
“After considering the matter, the SEM court, considering the kalandra details and in view of their repeated violations of law, and serious apprehension that if released on bail they will again violate law and instigate others to violate law, remanded Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to 05 days of judicial custody,” police said. “Ajinkya Shinde was bound down to maintain peace and good behaviour for 06 months on personal bond and surety of 5000 rupees,” they added.
Earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, along with Das and Ranka, had been released in connection with an October 10 protest after furnishing a bond of ₹50,000 and agreeing not to breach peace for a year.
This time, Das and Ranka face charges of trespassing and violating bond conditions, being treated as repeat offenders. The trio were detained Tuesday morning after crossing barricades at Jantar Mantar while protesting.
Delhi Police clarified that Jantar Mantar was officially de‑notified as a protest site on October 12 under Standing Order No. L&O/48/2026, following Home Ministry recommendations. Three new protest venues — Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground, and East Delhi’s CBD Ground — have now been designated.
