A Trusted Leader

Born on June 26, 1969, in Odisha's Talcher, Pradhan is the son of former Union Minister Debendra Pradhan.

He began his political career through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) before joining the BJP. He was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Pallahara in 2000 and entered the Lok Sabha in 2004 from Deogarh.

Pradhan served in the Rajya Sabha representing Bihar and later Madhya Pradesh before returning to the Lok Sabha from Sambalpur in the 2024 general election.

He joined the Union Council of Ministers in 2014 and held key portfolios, including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Steel. He remains India's longest-serving petroleum minister before taking charge of the Ministry of Education in 2021.

As education minister, Pradhan has led the rollout of the NEP 2020 and focused on improving access to quality education, digital learning, multidisciplinary education, research, innovation and skill-based training.

The flood of birthday greetings from governors, chief ministers, Union ministers, senior BJP leaders and party workers underscored Pradhan's prominence within the Union Cabinet, with leaders lauding his contribution to education reforms, youth empowerment and public service.
