Behrampur, Dec 26: In a major turn of events, a murder accused was arrested from Berhampur in Odisha's Ganjam district today, about 28 years after he killed his mother-in-law in Chennai and absconded from there.
The arrested man has been identified as Harihar Patajoshi.
According to the information, Harihar was working in a printing press in Chennai in 1994 when he came in contact with a girl named Indira, and a love relationship developed between them. On July 14, 1994, they tied the nuptial knot. After spending a few years together, they parted ways over some issues. They stayed at separate places in the city. Even, they approached a family court for registering a formal divorce.
While the case was subjudice, Harihar, on August 9, 1998, went to Indira's house and attacked her and her family members all of a sudden. While Indira's mother Rama died in his attack, she and her brother Kartika survived. Following this, Indira complained with the Aadambakam police station in Chennai against Harihar.

✨After committing the crime, Harihar went to Gujarat's Surat and worked there in a fake name. He came to Aska in 2001.
Subsequently, he married another man in Aska. He was working with a chit fund company as a manager when Chennai police could trace him a week back. With the help of Berhampur police, the team nabbed Harihar today.
