Bengal Verdict Strengthens India’s Security Says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Himanta Biswa Sarma Hails Bengal Election Outcome

Key Points

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described BJP’s Bengal victory as a triumph for national security and regional stability, emphasizing its broader significance beyond party politics.
Guwahati, May 4: Reacting to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) historic victory in West Bengal, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday termed the outcome as a “victory for the nation,” underscoring its implications for national security and regional stability.

Sarma said the defeat of Mamata Banerjee marked a decisive shift in eastern India’s political landscape, particularly in the context of border management and governance. He highlighted that issues such as infiltration, border fencing, and demographic challenges have long posed concerns in the region. “This is not merely a BJP victory, but a victory for India,” he remarked, adding that the mandate reflects the people’s aspiration for stronger governance, transparency, and accountability.

Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership, Sarma noted that their extensive outreach and strategic vision played a crucial role in shaping the electoral outcome. He said both leaders worked with a national perspective, focusing on long-term development and security, which resonated with voters across Bengal.

The Assam Chief Minister expressed hope that with a BJP government in West Bengal, coordinated efforts among eastern and northeastern states would gain momentum. He emphasized that better cooperation between states would strengthen border security, curb illegal movement, and ensure greater stability across the region.

Sarma also pointed out that the development push in West Bengal would complement progress in neighboring states, creating a more integrated economic and administrative framework in eastern India. Improved infrastructure and governance, he said, would benefit not just Bengal but the entire region.

Highlighting the broader significance of the result, Sarma stressed that the verdict reflects a collective desire for change and a move towards policies that prioritize national interest. He added that the new political alignment would help address long-pending challenges while ensuring sustained growth and security.

Reiterating his stance, Sarma concluded that the mandate in West Bengal should be seen as a step towards a stronger and more secure India, driven by coordinated governance and a shared vision for development.
