Guwahati, May 12: The leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday extended warm congratulations to the newly sworn-in BJP-led government in Assam, expressing confidence that the state will continue to achieve new heights of development under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership.
Sarma took oath as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term, marking the BJP-led NDA’s third straight victory in Assam. Alongside him, four ministers — former Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Charan Boro, and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog — were sworn into the new Council of Ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and leaders from 22 NDA-ruled states, making it a significant political gathering.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Assam will continue to achieve new heights of development. Many congratulations and gratitude to the people.” Chirag Paswan echoed similar sentiments, praising Sarma’s leadership style aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of accelerating development.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis described the event as a “matter of great joy,” highlighting the people’s endorsement of the work carried out under PM Modi and CM Sarma. Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of development and praised Sarma’s performance, calling the mandate a “historical message.”
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed confidence that Assam will set new benchmarks under Sarma’s leadership, while Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav said the state is moving forward under the guidance of PM Modi. Goa CM Pramod Sawant thanked the people of Assam for ensuring the BJP-led NDA’s third consecutive victory.
Other leaders, including RLM MP Upendra Kushwaha, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari, and NCP MP Praful Patel, also extended best wishes, stressing that the strengthened government will work more effectively for development.

With the NDA securing a decisive mandate, the BJP has scripted history by forming the government in Assam for the third consecutive time, consolidating its political dominance in the northeastern state.
