Neemuch, Feb 4: In an extraordinary act of courage and selflessness, an Anganwadi cook from Neemuch district died while protecting children from a sudden bee attack in Ranpur village.

The incident occurred at the Anganwadi centre in Madavada Panchayat when a massive swarm of bees descended on children playing in the compound. At that critical moment, Kanchan Bai Meghwal, the cook at the centre, rushed to shield the children without a thought for her own safety.

Grabbing tarpaulins and mats lying nearby, she quickly wrapped the children one by one, shielding them with her own body and rushing them inside the centre. As she stood between the swarm and the children, the bees turned on her. Hundreds of stings pierced her body, but she did not retreat until the last child was safe indoors.

Despite her valiant effort, Kanchan Bai succumbed to the stings. Her sacrifice ensured that all the children survived the terrifying ordeal.
