Ahmedabad Plane Crash: President Murmu, PM Modi, HM Shah, CM Majhi Express Deep Shock

New Delhi, Jun 12: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi have expressed deep shock over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

The President took to Twitter and wrote: "I am deeply distressed to learn about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. It is a heart-rending disaster. My thoughts and prayers are with the affected people. The nation stands with them in this hour of indescribable grief."

“The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. I have been in touch with ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his condolences and said all necessary response mechanisms had been activated.

“Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. I have spoken with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad, to assess the situation,” he posted on X.


Odisha CM Majhi expressed grief over the Air India Ahmedabad–London flight crash.


“My thoughts and prayers are with the passengers, crew, and their families. I pray to Lord Jagannath for everyone's safety and recovery. Odisha stands in solidarity with Gujarat,” he tweeted.

BJP National President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda called the crash “extremely tragic” and said he had been in touch with state leaders to monitor relief efforts.

“I spoke with Gujarat BJP State President and Union Minister C.R. Paatil and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel to get updates on healthcare arrangements and relief operations,” Nadda said.

He urged BJP workers to assist in rescue efforts.

“I appeal to all BJP workers to actively engage in relief and rescue operations and provide every possible assistance to the affected families. I pray for strength for the bereaved and a speedy recovery for the injured,” he added.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed her heartfelt condolences.

"Distressed on hearing about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. My prayers for all families and friends of those on board the flight," said FM Sitharaman.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said he was "deeply pained to learn about the plane crash in Ahmedabad".

"I convey my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their loved ones. We stand firmly with those grieving and pray for the quick recovery of those injured. Om Shanti," he posted.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan said he was shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad.

“We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action. Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site,” he posted on X.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner (VT-ANB), on its way to London, had just taken off with 242 people on board, including two pilots and 10 cabin crew, when it crashed just outside the perimeter of Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Ahmedabad airport officials said that all flight operations remain temporarily suspended until further notice. An SVPIA spokesperson said that "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, is currently not operational".

“All flight operations are temporarily suspended until further notice. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates before proceeding to the airport,” said the spokesperson.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said a detailed investigation is underway into the crash of Air India flight AI-171.
