10 Kg IED Planted By Naxalites Recovered In Chhattisgarh's Bijapur

Bijapur, Sep 9: Security personnel on Tuesday recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) planted by CPI (Maoists) to target them in a forested area in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.
According to reports, the 222nd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were out on combing operation when the personnel detected the IED weighing 10 kg in the forested regions of Cherpal and Pedda, under the jurisdiction of Gangalur Police Station.
Following this, Bijapur Police’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) in coordination with the CRPF personnel recovered the IED and was later defused and destroyed the explosives on-site.
The IED was discovered along with 3 kg of BGL shells and electric wires.
Officials stated that the seizure was part of a larger effort to sanitize the region and ensure safe movement for both civilians and forces.
