Washington, Jul 15: In a bold diplomatic move, US President Donald Trump has issued a 50-day deadline to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing war against Ukraine.

Trump warned that failure to comply would result in the imposition of 100% tariffs on Russian goods and increased military support to Ukraine through NATO allies.

The announcement came during a high-level meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the Oval Office, where Trump reportedly finalized a new agreement to send additional weapons and defence systems to Ukraine. The meeting marked a significant shift in Trump’s foreign policy stance, signalling stronger alignment with NATO partners.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump emphasised that the United States would not tolerate continued aggression from Russia. He hinted at a second wave of sanctions, including steep tariffs, if Russia does not cease hostilities within the stipulated timeframe.

Trump’s ultimatum is seen as a strategic pressure tactic aimed at forcing Russia to reconsider its military campaign in Ukraine. Analysts believe this move could escalate tensions but also open doors for renewed diplomatic negotiations.
