Washington, Jan 31: Newly released documents linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein contain unverified allegations involving Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, claims that Gates has strongly denied.
The allegations appear in draft emails Epstein wrote to himself in 2013 and were included in a large tranche of investigative material released on Friday by the US Department of Justice. The documents contain no corroborating evidence, and the claims have not been substantiated.
In the emails, Epstein alleged that Gates had sexual encounters with women from Russia, contracted a sexually transmitted disease and later sought antibiotics that could be secretly given to his then-wife, Melinda Gates. Epstein also claimed that Gates asked him to delete emails related to the alleged incident.

A spokesperson for Gates issued a forceful denial following the release of the documents. “These claims are absolutely absurd and completely false,” the spokesperson said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “The only thing these documents demonstrate is Epstein’s frustration that he did not have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”
The Justice Department said it has released more than three million pages of material related to Epstein, including over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, following an extensive review process. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the disclosures were part of an effort to increase transparency in the long-running investigation.
The emails dated July 18, 2013, appear to be draft messages, some written in the voice of Gates’s former adviser Boris Nikolic. In them, Epstein also complained about Gates ending their association after several years and made broader claims of being asked to engage in behaviour he described as ethically questionable. None of those assertions have been verified.
The document release also includes previously unseen photographs showing Epstein and Gates together. The Justice Department has repeatedly said that an individual’s appearance in the files does not imply wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities.
Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein and has said he regrets the association. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

Bill and Melinda Gates were married from 1994 until their divorce in 2021. Melinda Gates has said in past interviews that Gates’s extramarital affairs and his association with Epstein were factors in the breakdown of their marriage, without elaborating on specific allegations.
