New Delhi, Oct 9: Dr Ashok Choudhury, Additional Professor of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, has featured in the Stanford–Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists List in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Released on October 7, 2026, the list identifies influential researchers across scientific disciplines based on citation data and other indicators of research impact. This year, it featured 2,253 researchers globally and 43 from India in gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr Choudhury’s academic record includes more than 167 peer-reviewed publications, 9,564 citations and an h-index of 36.
A clinician-scientist specialising in liver failure, liver cancer, liver transplantation and artificial intelligence in hepatology, Dr Choudhury has contributed to the development of the AARC-ACLF Score. His work also includes the concepts of the Golden Window for sepsis management and the Transplant Window in acute-on-chronic liver failure, which address critical treatment decisions for patients with severe liver disease.

Dr Choudhury has participated in pan-Asian collaborative research registries focused on acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). He has also been involved in research on disparities in cirrhosis care and outcomes, connecting 127 centres across 46 countries.
His recognitions include the Asia Pacific Rising Star Award in 2024 from the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL), along with young investigator honours from international liver societies and a research award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
Alongside his research, Dr Choudhury treats complex liver diseases and mentors DM and PhD scholars. His work also spans clinical and translational research, medical technology and artificial intelligence-based innovations in liver care.
