Health / Ayush Ministry to Spotlight Homoeopathy for Sustainable Health on World Homoeopathy Day 2026

Key Points
This year’s theme, “Homoeopathy for Sustainable Health”, emphasizes the holistic, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible approach of homoeopathy, aligning with global priorities such as Universal Health Coverage and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being.
The forum will bring together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and delegates to deliberate on strengthening scientific validation, ethical standards, and integration of homoeopathy into mainstream healthcare systems. Special sessions will highlight homoeopathy’s role in preventive and promotive healthcare, management of lifestyle and chronic diseases, and reducing dependency on conventional pharmacotherapy.

Discussions will also focus on eco-friendly pharmaceutical practices, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of blending traditional knowledge with modern scientific research. With rising healthcare costs, increasing chronic disease burden, and challenges like antimicrobial resistance, the event will underline homoeopathy’s potential as a sustainable medical system characterized by minimal ecological footprint and rational resource use.
India, which first embraced homoeopathy in 1810 through German missionaries, now leads globally with 3.45 lakh registered homoeopathy doctors, 8,593 dispensaries, 277 educational institutions, and 34 research centres. Over the years, homoeopathy has gained growing acceptance worldwide, especially in community healthcare and public health interventions.
The Ministry of Ayush has been actively expanding the reach of homoeopathy through evidence-based practices, improved accessibility, and integration into national health programmes. The upcoming celebration is expected to reinforce India’s leadership in promoting traditional systems of medicine while fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation among stakeholders.
By centering on sustainability, the event aims to make healthcare more effective, equitable, environmentally conscious, and future-ready.
