Bhubaneswar, Jul 6: AIIMS Bhubaneswar has marked a new milestone in its journey of excellence, securing the 10th position among India’s top medical colleges in the India Today-MDRA Best Medical Colleges Survey 2026. The institute also ranked 2nd among the country’s most improved medical colleges, highlighting its rapid ascent in healthcare and medical education, officials said on Monday.
The survey, conducted by India Today in collaboration with Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA), assessed institutions across five parameters: intake quality and governance, academic excellence, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development, and placement and career progression.
Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas described the recognition as a reflection of the institute’s relentless pursuit of excellence. “AIIMS Bhubaneswar has grown to symbolize trust, innovation, and integrity in healthcare and medical education. Our continued rise in national rankings demonstrates our holistic approach toward grooming future medical leaders while ensuring the best patient outcomes,” he said.

From its 25th rank in 2021 to 10th in 2026, AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s steady climb underscores visionary leadership, teamwork, and dedication. A felicitation programme was held on campus to celebrate the achievement, attended by senior faculty and administrators including Dean (Academic) Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Dean (Examination) Dr. Manaswini Mangaraj, Dean (Research) Dr. Baijayantimala Mishra, DDA Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar, Registrar Dr. Sudipta Kumar Singh, Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Giri.
This recognition aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to bridge regional imbalances in tertiary healthcare. Under the guidance of Union Health Minister JP Nadda, AIIMS Bhubaneswar continues to set benchmarks in public healthcare and education, strengthening its role as a trusted institution in eastern India.
