Education / Villagers Protest Headmaster’s Transfer in Subarnapur

Key Points
Subarnapur, Jul 20: A wave of discontent swept through Subarnapur district in Odisha on Monday as villagers locked the Upper Primary School in Khairmal to protest the transfer of Headmaster Sushil Kumar Bishi. Locals demanded immediate suspension of the order, citing his pivotal role in improving academic standards and student welfare.
For several years, Bishi has been credited with transforming the school’s teaching environment. Parents and villagers said he treated students like his own children, regularly checking on their health and maintaining cleanliness in the premises. His guidance, they added, had significantly improved results and instilled confidence among students.
The sudden transfer order has triggered widespread
resentment. “If Bishi Sir leaves, our children’s future will be in darkness,”
one parent remarked. In protest, villagers locked the school premises,
disrupting classes for the day. They warned that unless the transfer is
revoked, they will intensify their agitation.
