New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, Apr 1: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Wednesday launched the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) new Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence (CT & AI) curriculum at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, marking the beginning of the 2026-27 academic year.
The curriculum, designed for students from Class III to Class VIII, is a major step toward fulfilling the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Developed in collaboration with the National Council of
Educational Research and Training (NCERT), it aims to integrate structured AI
learning into the CBSE system, making education more innovative, engaging, and
future-ready.

“India is expanding its influence in global technology
claiming this initiative will help nurture creativity, design orientation, and
problem-solving skills among young learners,” said the Union Education Minister.

✨“‘AI for Education, AI in Education’ is the guiding vision, ensuring children are not just users of technology but future innovators,” he added.
The curriculum includes age-appropriate structured modules,
puzzles, and mathematical games to simplify complex problems. It emphasizes
play, exploration, and discovery, making learning joyful and interactive. “Students
will be assessed not merely on rote memorization but on creativity, application
of technology, and problem-solving abilities,” noted Union Minister Pradhan.

Teachers will receive extensive training and dedicated handbooks to ensure effective classroom delivery. An advanced assessment framework has also been prepared to evaluate student learning outcomes.
Union Minister Pradhan expressed gratitude to CBSE and NCERT for implementing the curriculum and highlighted its role in positioning India as a global leader in AI and machine learning.

also present at the launch.
