Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Mar 5: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has praised the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for its role in education field at global level.
The Union Education Minister delivered the convocation address through video conference at the 38th Convocation of IGNOU at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, Maidan Garhi Campus in the National Capital.
Union Minister Pradhan heaped praise on IGNOU for making education affordable, flexible, and accessible to all. Highlighting the IGNOU’s impact at global level and its reach, the Union Education Minister said that it has educated over 35 lakh students having a presence in 58 countries.
Pradhan also noted that IGNOU, the largest Open University in the world, is at the top of the list among Open Universities in the NIRF 2024 rankings.
The Union Education Minister also stressed on IGNOU’s role in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, appreciating its efforts in providing multidisciplinary and technology-based education.
IGNOU offers syllabuses on 15 regional languages, including Odia, which enable students to study and gain knowledge easily in the languages, they are comfortable with.
Union Minister Pradhan has encouraged all the students to work hard keeping a bigger picture and better future in mind, which will not only help them, but also help in the growth of the nation.
