Earlier, taking leave for personal reasons often required excuses or vague explanations. But one employee’s unusually honest leave request has surprised many and become a talking point online.

According to reports, an employee emailed his manager requesting a day’s leave simply to spend time with his girlfriend before she left for Uttarakhand on December 17. The mail mentioned that she would “not return until early January”, so he wanted December 16 off to be with her.

What stood out was his complete honesty — no fabricated illness, no vague reasons, just a straightforward explanation.

The email was sent to Viren Khuller, a company director, who later shared a screenshot of the request on LinkedIn. The post quickly went viral. Khuller wrote that earlier, employees would often claim to be “sick” to take leave, but now people are more open and honest about their personal needs. He added that he appreciates this transparency, as it builds trust and makes working relationships healthier.

In a lighthearted tone, Khullar captioned the post, “Cant say no to love; can we? Leave approved!

 

The post received thousands of likes, with many users praising both the employee’s honesty and the director’s understanding. Commenters noted that this reflects a positive and healthy work culture — one that respects personal life alongside professional responsibilities.
