Bhubaneswar, May 23: The Odisha Higher Education Department has directed all Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) across the state to begin the recruitment process for guest faculty for the 2026-27 academic session.
According to the official instruction, principals of all TEIs have been asked to prepare fresh panels and appoint guest lecturers on a contractual basis in accordance with the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The selected candidates are scheduled to join duty from July 1, 2026.
The recruitment will be conducted for B.Ed and M.Ed programmes. Guest faculty members will be appointed in subjects including Educational Studies, Science, Social Science, Language and Mathematics Pedagogy, Health and Physical Education, Fine Arts, and Performing Arts.
Nine-Month Contract, Monthly Remuneration Fixed
The appointments will be purely contractual for a period of nine months beginning July 1, 2026.
As per the notification, Assistant Professors appointed for B.Ed programmes will receive a monthly remuneration of Rs 35,000. Associate Professors engaged for M.Ed programmes will be paid Rs 40,000 per month, while Professors will receive Rs 50,000.

Entire Recruitment Process to be Digital
The Higher Education Department has emphasised that the entire recruitment process will be fully digital and transparent this year.
From publication of advertisements and submission of applications to preparation of merit lists and issuance of appointment letters, all procedures will be carried out only through the Higher Education Information Management System (HIMS) portal.
The department fixed a detailed timeline for the recruitment process.
All required data must be uploaded on the HIMS portal by May 23.
Advertisements are to be published by May 30.
Online applications will be accepted till June 9.
Walk-in interviews must be completed by June 20.
Merit lists will be published on June 23.
Appointment letters will be issued to selected candidates on June 25.
The department further warned that strict action would be taken against institutions failing to complete the recruitment process within the stipulated timeline.
