Rourkela, Aug 27: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has achieved remarkable success in its 2025–26 placement season, securing 1,340 job offers and 364 six-month internships. The drive also set a record with 258 summer internships for pre-final-year students — the highest in the institute’s history, officials said on Thursday.

The B.Tech. programme achieved a placement rate of 95.47%, with the highest CTC touching Rs131 lakh per annum. Computer Science students recorded a top package of Rs83.60 LPA, while the average stood at Rs15.33 LPA and the median at Rs12.50 LPA. The M.Tech. programme also performed strongly, with the highest package of Rs46.38 LPA in Computer Science and Rs44 LPA in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The average CTC for M.Tech. was Rs11.90 LPA, with a median of Rs9 LPA.

More than 83 students secured annual packages exceeding Rs30 LPA, underscoring the institute’s talent pool. Internships were equally encouraging, with stipends reaching as high as Rs1.50 lakh per month.

The placement drive witnessed participation from 374 recruiters, nearly half of them first-time participants. The Software and IT Services sector accounted for the largest share, followed by Manufacturing, BFSI, Electronics, and Education. Core sectors contributed 41.69% of total offers, while Software & IT accounted for 17.79%. Other significant contributions came from Power and Heavy industries (13.77%), BFSI (11.52%), and Analytics & Consulting (9.5%).

Top recruiters included Aditya Birla Group, Bharat Electronics Limited, JSW Group, Larsen & Toubro, Vedanta, Texas Instruments, ExxonMobil, Reliance Industries, Deloitte USI, HPCL, Accenture, ICICI Bank, TATA Steel, Qualcomm, and NatWest, among others.

Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director of NIT Rourkela, said the outcomes reflect the institute’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready professionals. “Despite a competitive global job market, the placement outcomes highlight the dedication and capabilities of our students,” he noted. Prof. Surajit Das, Head of the Career Development Centre, added that the collaborative efforts of faculty and student coordinators ensured the success of the drive.

The results reaffirm NIT Rourkela’s position as one of India’s premier technical institutes, strengthening its industry-academia collaboration and expanding opportunities for future-ready graduates.
