New Delhi, Jan 22: If you want to get a job in the postal department, a major opportunity will be available soon. India Post is set to release a notification for a total of 28,740 posts. Under this recruitment drive, posts such as Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) will be filled.
These jobs will be for rural and semi-urban areas. Preference will be given to candidates applying from their own state or postal circle.
The application process will begin on January 31, 2026 and will continue until February 14, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for India Post GDS posts must have passed Class-10 and must have knowledge of the local language. The age limit is 18 to 40 years, with age relaxation for reserved categories as per government rules.
The application fee for General/OBC/EWS category candidates is Rs 100. There is no application fee for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Persons with Disabilities candidates.
Selection for these posts will not involve any written examination or interview. Candidates will be selected based on a merit list, followed by document verification.

The salary for the Branch Postmaster post ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380, while for Gramin Dak Sevak or Assistant Branch Postmaster, it ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470.
