Forgery / Fake Certificates Rock Titlagarh Anganwadi Recruitment in Odisha

Titlagarh, Jul 27: A major controversy has erupted in Balangir district after allegations of fake certificates surfaced during Anganwadi recruitment.

The issue came to light in Titlagarh block’s Ghantabahali village, where a vacant Anganwadi worker post had attracted 10 applicants. Among them was Barsha Nag, who submitted a certificate showing 442 marks in her higher secondary examination. Based on this, she was selected for the post.

However, suspicion among other candidates led to a formal complaint to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO). Upon verification, shocking discrepancies were revealed — Barsha’s actual marks were only 279, not 442.

The CDPO, Sushama Padhi, lodged a police complaint against her, citing submission of forged documents to secure the job.

The controversy does not end there. In Saintala block’s Kuargan village, another candidate, Rojalin Padhan, allegedly submitted a certificate showing 422 marks.

Following doubts raised by fellow applicants, Rojalin reportedly resigned soon after being appointed, fuelling speculation that she feared exposure of her fake credentials. Her sudden resignation and disappearance have intensified debates around recruitment transparency.

The twin incidents have triggered widespread discussions in Titlagarh and beyond, raising serious questions about the verification process of educational certificates in Anganwadi appointments.

Police are now investigating the source of the forged documents — who created them, where they were produced, and how they were circulated.

Authorities now face mounting pressure to ensure accountability and tighten scrutiny in recruitment procedures. The scandal has cast a shadow over Anganwadi hiring, with calls for stricter checks to prevent fraudulent practices in the future.
