New Delhi, May 25: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a constructive discussion with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on reforms in India’s education system and the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
During the meeting, Union Minister Pradhan praised Meghalaya’s holistic education model, which integrates formal learning with sports, physical education, horticulture, and local livelihood opportunities. He described CM Sangma’s initiatives as a symbol of cultural inclusivity and comprehensive development.
The Union Education Minister particularly welcomed the
emphasis on strengthening primary education through mother tongues such as
Khasi and Garo, noting that this approach would improve learning outcomes and
preserve cultural identity.

He highlighted the importance of combining traditional knowledge with modern subjects like Artificial Intelligence and computational thinking to meet the aspirations of India’s youth.
