Hyderabad, June 10: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday chaired the Global Young Scientists Conference and the Annual General Meeting of the Global Young Academy (GYA) at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad).
Union Minister Pradhan, in his address, congratulated the 30 newly inducted GYA members and expressed appreciation for India being chosen as the host for the event.
Pradhan said that scientists must collaborate and co-create with a sense of purpose and empathy to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat and advance human-centric development.
The Minister emphasized that science must be empathetic, ethical, and equitable, advocating for collaborative partnerships over patents to shape the future.
Highlighting India’s commitment to global scientific cooperation, Pradhan spoke about initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and Mission LiFE. He reiterated that India’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—One Earth, One Family, One Future—underscores the country’s vision of Vishwa Bandhutva, or global friendship through science.

✨The conference, held from June 8 to 14, 2025, brought together emerging scientific leaders from across the globe, marking a significant moment for international collaboration in science and innovation.
The prestigious event welcomed 135 international delegates from 60 countries, along with 65 national delegates, making it one of the most diverse and inclusive scientific gatherings in India.
The conference featured discussions on pivotal scientific themes, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), health and nutrition, Industry 5.0, and innovation. These sessions fostered knowledge exchange and cross-border cooperation aimed at addressing pressing global challenges.
In a symbolic gesture, Pradhan and other dignitaries planted saplings on the IIT Hyderabad campus as part of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. He encouraged students to actively participate in the movement, promoting environmental sustainability.
The week-long event underscored the importance of young scientists working together to build innovative ecosystems that empower vulnerable communities and advance human-centric development. With India taking center stage in scientific diplomacy, the conference set the groundwork for meaningful collaborations, ensuring that science remains a driving force for societal progress.
