Student Safety / 10-Year-Old Delhi Schoolgirl Dies after Alleged Punishment

New Delhi, Aug 31: A shocking incident has emerged from East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area, where a 10-year-old student allegedly died after being subjected to severe punishment at her school.

The girl, identified as Anvi, was reportedly made to stand in the scorching sun for hours by her teacher because she had forgotten to bring her books.

According to Anvi’s family, the child was forced to endure prolonged physical punishment, which left her exhausted and unconscious. She collapsed on the school premises and was rushed to a government hospital, where she later died during treatment.

Family members have accused the school and the teacher of subjecting Anvi to “unimaginable physical torture” for a minor mistake. They claim the punishment directly led to her deteriorating health and eventual death.

However, Delhi Police stated, “At the time of handing over the body, the family did not raise allegations of harsh punishment. These claims were made later against the school and the teacher.”

Police have now launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the child’s death, including whether the punishment was indeed administered and if it was linked to her medical condition.

The incident has sparked outrage, raising questions about how corporal punishment could still occur in schools, which are legally designated as punishment-free zones.

Authorities confirmed that the matter is under investigation, and accountability will be fixed once the inquiry is complete. Meanwhile, Anvi’s family continues to demand justice.
