Dwarika, often regarded as the city of Lord Krishna, holds unsolved mysteries within its heart.

Bhubaneswar: Dwarika, often regarded as the city of Lord Krishna, holds unsolved mystries within its heart. The Dwarika Nagari is a place with a rich tapestry of mythogolical stories passed down through generations. History says that Dwarika is a 9000 year old city, built by Lord Krishna after coming from Mathura. The remains of which can still be seen in the blue water of the Arabian Sea. But here comes a everyone's mind that, who could have created this beautiful city?and how did it get submerged in the sea? Is there really some mystery behind this? Or is it a natural phenomenon? How was the city of Dwarika? And how is it now? How many days did it take to build the city of Dwarika? Certain queries are haunting countless minds even today. What happened that the city of Dwarika was lost in the blue ocean?

History says that, after Lord Shri Krishna killed the barbarous demon Kansa, Kansa's father-in-law Jarasandha repeatedly attacked Mathura. In which the people of Mathura were helpless. Finally, to stop this, Krishna left Mathura and brought the people of Mathura to the sea and built his own divine city, which he named as Dwarika. Since there are multiple gates to enter this city, it is called Dwarika Nagari. It is also said that Lord Krishna took land from the the Ocean god ''Samudra'', to build the gate and told Vishwakarma, the crafter of the universe, to build the gate during the night.

As per the mythology, two major events were responsible for the destruction of Dwarika. One was the curse given by Gandhari to Lord Krishna, after all her sons died in the battle of Mahabharata. It is believed that, the city of Dwarika was submerged in the sea, 36 years after the Mahabharata. The Pandavas were victorious in the mythological battle of Mahabharata and the entire Kaurava dynasty was destroyed. Later, when Yudhishthira was crowned in Hastinapur, Lord Krishna was also present there. At this time, Gandhari blamed Lord Krishna for the Mahabharata war and cursed Lord Krishna. It is said that due to this curse, Lord Krishna's beloved city, Dwarika, was submerged in water.

What was the second reason?

The curse of the Sage.

According to another thesis, once sage Vishwamitra, the divine sage Narada, went to visit Kanva Dwarika. At that time, in order to mock the sages, some boys of the Yadava clan, dressed up Krishna's son Sambha as a woman, took him to the saints, and told the sage that the woman is pregnant. If you have any divine power then, tell us about the child growing in her womb. At that time the sage was angry. And cursed the entire Yaduvansh to be destroyed. When Gandhari's anger towards Shri Krishna calmed down, she apologized to Shri Krishna. She asked for forgiveness from Shri Krishna. To this Shri Krishna said, "O mother, why are you asking for forgiveness? It is in accordance with the rules and I am also in it."After this, Shri Krishna moved to the city of Dwarika. At that time, Shri

Krishna's sons gradually became very powerful and the entire Yadu dynasty became potent.

But, despite being a prosporous city, due to the curse of Gandhari and the sage, Dwarka lacked peace within its people. Gradually this lead towards the mahabharata war and finally, the entire Jaduvamsa and the city of Dwarika were destroyed.

The Indian Air Force was the first to see this remnant in the sea. Before that, Dwarika was said to be a fictional city. No one believed in the presence of Dwarika in real world. However, the first historical reference to Dwarika was found in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on a 6th-century Palitana copper plate inscription. Then people believed in it. More research started after that.

People talk about several other stories behind the sinking of the city. Some say it was due to a natural event, while others say that the city was destroyed by aliens.

But scientists say that when the ice age began to melt, the sea level rose. At that time, this city moved into the ocean floor.
