Paralakhemundi, Jan 31: In a tragic incident, a youth died due to electrocution in the Jodipahar village in Gajapati district.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Dalbehera of Jodipathar village. He came in contact with a hanging 11-KV live wire and got electrocuted.

Tension ran high as locals blocked the Paralakhemundi-Brahamapur and Paralakhemundi-Mohan roads at Paralakhemudi to register their protest against the death of the youth allegedly due to the negligence of the electricity department.

People's anger deepened as no police or administrative officials reached the spot as yet. According to the information, an 11KV wire was hanging near Chandiput Lal Bahadur High School for a long time.

Though locals had complained about it to the administration on several occasions, no action was taken. Finally, the hanging wire took a precious life.
