Keonjhar, Apr 2: A youth was killed after being run over by an unidentified vehicle on NH 520 near Kandara village in Keonjhar district. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Nayak.

According to reports, the incident occurred late at night around 9:30 PM when Manoj was returning to his home. Meanwhile, an unidentified vehicle rammed his motorcycle, resulting in his death on the spot.

Following the incident, locals blocked the road near Kandara village and demanded compensation for kin of the deceased.

The prolonged roadblock by agitated villagers caused heavy traffic congestion for over five hours, severely impacting the commuters.

Taking note of the protest, authorities, including the Barbil SDPO, Additional Tehsildar, and Joda IIC, intervened to pacify the protesters and restore normalcy.
