Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: The investigation into the death of a KISS student has taken a serious turn, with the Police Commissioner confirming that the student was murdered and not a victim of natural causes, as initially claimed by the institution.

Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh revealed that eight members of the KISS official staff have been arrested for their alleged involvement in suppressing evidence and misleading authorities. Those arrested include an Additional CEO, a TGT teacher and an assistant teacher. All eight have been produced before the court.

According to the police, the student was strangled to death inside a bathroom by his classmates. The accused juveniles had reportedly formed a group known as the “Joker Gang,” and the murder appears to have been the result of internal conflict within the group. The primary accused has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Court for further proceedings.

The Commissioner stated that the KISS authorities attempted to conceal the crime by destroying crucial evidence and failing to inform the local police. Instead, they handed over the student’s body to the family, claiming he had died of a heart attack. This raised suspicions, prompting a detailed post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem report revealed clear injury marks on the student’s body, including signs of strangulation. These findings contradicted the institution’s claim and confirmed that the student had been murdered. Police officials have expressed concern over the deliberate attempt to hide the truth and obstruct the investigation.

Authorities are now examining how the institution handled the incident and why the staff failed to report the matter promptly. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against all those involved in the cover-up, and further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the conspiracy.
