Kataka, Oct 18: The body of an unidentified young man bearing severe injuries was recovered from the Mahanadi riverbank behind ‘Kataka In Kataka’, near the Bali Jatra ground in Kataka, a source said on Sunday. Police suspect murder, with preliminary findings suggesting that the victim may have been attacked with a sharp weapon.

The deceased has not yet been identified. Police reached the spot, seized the body and launched an investigation. The body was subsequently sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Deep Injury Found On Neck
According to a source, the body bore a deep wound on the neck, raising suspicion of a violent attack. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the death to determine whether the man was murdered.

The identity of the deceased, the reason he was at the riverbank and the motive behind the suspected killing remain unknown.

Police Investigation Underway
Police have examined the crime scene and are investigating the case from various angles to establish the sequence of events and identify those responsible.

ACP Zone-II GS Chakrabarty said, “As soon as we received the information, the police team, along with a scientific team and a dog squad, reached the spot. There is a deep wound on the victim’s neck.”
