Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: Member of the Odisha State Commission for Women Urmila Mohapatra on Friday visited Nayapally police station and reviewed the investigation into the alleged rape of a 26-year-old woman in Bhubaneswar.
Mohapatra held discussions with the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) regarding the progress of the investigation and the action taken by police based on the survivor’s complaint.
She also discussed the case with the zone ACP. Afterwards, she also met with the survivor.
Women’s Commission Seeks Investigation Update
The Women’s Commission expressed concern over the investigation into the case and directed the Bhubaneswar DCP to submit a report within 15 days.

Survivor Alleges Rape At Gunpoint
The 26-year-old woman Thursday approached Nayapally police station and alleged that an unidentified person entered her rented apartment in Bhubaneswar and raped her on Wednesday night.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she was raped at gunpoint.
The woman lives in the rented apartment with her elder sister, while the property owners reside on the first floor, a source said.
Following the complaint, police registered an FIR and senior officers visited the spot to investigate the matter. A forensic team also examined the scene as part of the probe.
