Cuttack, Mar 11: Odisha Vigilance officials have uncovered a staggering haul of assets during simultaneous raids on properties linked to Prasanna Samantaray, Tehsildar of Kantapara in Cuttack district.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Court, Cuttack, the operation was carried out by a large team of officers across multiple districts including Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, and Kendrapara.

Samantaray, who entered government service in 2000 as a Local Fund Auditor with an initial salary of ₹5,130, is now under investigation for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets far beyond his known sources of income.

Assets Unearthed So Far

• Buildings: Two triple-storeyed houses in Bhubaneswar, one completed (approx. 4,065 sq ft) and another under construction (approx. 6,750 sq ft).
• Plots: Seven high-value plots across Bhubaneswar, located in Kesura, Koradakanta, Bankuala, and Meherpalli.
• Cash: ₹2.15 lakh in cash
• Vehicles: One Maruti Brezza, and three two-wheelers.
• Investments: Bank and postal deposits, along with other financial holdings, are being verified.

The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the valuation of the seized properties. Officials confirmed that searches are still underway and more revelations may follow.

This large-scale operation, involving 2 Additional SPs, 8 DSPs, 11 Inspectors, and 5 ASIs, highlights the growing crackdown on corruption in Odisha’s administrative machinery.

As investigations continue, Odisha Vigilance is expected to release further updates, potentially exposing more hidden assets and financial irregularities.
