Bhubaneswar, Jul 1: Commissionerate Police achieved a major breakthrough against an organized dacoity gang active in the capital city, arresting two members involved in multiple armed robbery cases.
The arrests were made by Info Valley Police following investigations into two violent incidents.
According to police, around 15 miscreants had intercepted a JCB and two Hyva trucks on the Pitapalli-Mendhasal road.

The gang allegedly brandished deadly weapons, attacked the drivers, and looted ₹40,000 in cash along with mobile phones. They later threatened to set the vehicles ablaze near Wonderla Park before fleeing.
During the probe, investigators discovered the gang’s involvement in another armed robbery in Chandaka. In that incident, the accused stopped a man, threatened him with weapons, and looted ₹1.5 lakh in cash.

✨Acting on intelligence, police arrested two accused identified as Subrat Kumar Patasani and Sibaram Moharana, both from Khordha district.
A large haul of incriminating items was seized from them, including a Mahindra Scorpio SUV, a Vespa scooter, two mobile phones, cash, a semi‑automatic pistol, three live bullets, a magazine, a pharsa (sharp weapon), and other materials.
Police said the arrests mark a significant step in dismantling the gang’s operations. Raids are continuing across different locations to nab other members still at large.
Officials emphasized that the crackdown demonstrates the Commissionerate Police’s commitment to tackling organized crime and ensuring public safety.
The arrested accused are being interrogated to trace the
network and identify further associates. Police believe the gang may have been
planning additional robberies in the Bhubaneswar‑Khordha region.
