Keonjhar, Jul 10: A minor girl was allegedly abducted, raped, and assaulted by two men, including her relative, in Odisha's Keonjhar district, a source said Friday.

Both accused are in custody and are expected to be formally arrested and produced before a court today.

The incident took place on Thursday under the Sadar police station limits.

The survivor, whose condition is stated to be stable, is undergoing treatment at a hospital, police confirmed.

Locals Rescue Survivor After Hearing Cries
According to the source, the main accused worked as a helper and was a regular visitor to the survivor's house. Taking advantage of the family's familiarity with him, he allegedly took the minor away in a truck along with its driver.

Afterwards, the two men allegedly raped the girl at a secluded spot before attempting to kill her by attacking her with a stone, the source said.

The girl's cries for help alerted passersby, who rushed to the spot, rescued her, and caught both accused before handing them over to police, the source added.

Police sources said the accused did not initially disclose that he was related to the survivor. His relationship with the minor came to light only during questioning, officials added.

Accused To Be Arrested After Treatment
Both accused sustained injuries after they were allegedly beaten by locals, police said. They were shifted to Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital in Keonjhar, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
