Mayurbhanj, May 12: In a significant judgment, the Mayurbhanj Fast-Track Court has sentenced two accused to five years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5 lakh each in connection with a 2021 case involving immoral relations with a minor and the circulation of her obscene photos and videos.

The court, presided over by Judge Santosh Kumar Nayak, ruled that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional two years of imprisonment.

The convicted individuals are Dinesh Kumar Patra (25) of Kundia village in Balasore district and Jayakrishna Behera (27) of Jadida area under Baishinga police station.

The Baishinga police had arrested the duo in 2021 after the disturbing incident came to light, filing charges and producing them before the court. The judgment is seen as a stern message against crimes involving minors and digital exploitation.

Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police has announced a ₹25,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of a missing 17-year-old girl, Ipsita Sarangi, who has been untraceable since March 14.

A case was registered at Bharatpur police station, and suspicions of abduction have intensified. CCTV footage is being examined as part of the investigation.

Ipsita, who resided in Jagannath Bihar area of Bharatpur, is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall. Posters have been circulated across social media and public spaces urging citizens to share any information that could assist in locating her.

Authorities emphasize that community cooperation is vital in both preventing crimes against minors and ensuring swift action when such incidents occur.
