According to the source, the incident took place at around 3 pm on September 22 at a real estate office under Dhenkanal Town police station limits. The accused was identified as Suryakanta Parida, alias Bulbul.
According to the woman's complaint, her husband had dropped her at the office around noon that day. The accused, a friend of her husband, arrived at around 3 pm and asked about the office's contribution towards the Ganesh Puja festivity. The woman told him that she would convey the message to the office authorities when they arrived. The accused then left but returned around five minutes later. He dragged the woman from her chair and raped her.
The woman alleged that the accused later threatened to circulate the objectionable photographs if she disclosed the incident to anyone. She subsequently informed her husband and appraoched Dhenkanal Town police station on September 22.

However, on October 30, photographs and videos allegedly recorded by the accused began circulating from one mobile phone to another in the locality. In the viral CCTV footage, a man can be seen to be recording photographs and videos on his mobile phone while assaulting a woman.
The woman faced severe distress following the circulation of the viral video, the source said. Subsequntly, she approached Dhenkanal Town police station again on October 31 and lodged an FIR.
Afterwards, police registered a case and arrested Suryakanta Parida, alias Bulbul, Dhenkanal Superintendent of Police said.
