Bhubaneswar, Jun 30: Odisha has been rocked by a string of violent incidents across Sundargarh, Bhubaneswar, and Balangir, raising serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement.

In Sundargarh, a chilling case unfolded late Sunday night when three youths allegedly abducted and murdered a man named Shibdhan Lohar from Jharkhand.

Reports suggest Lohar was dragged out of an Alto car near Subdega under Talasara police limits, stabbed, and robbed of his belongings. He was later killed near Duduka under Hemgir police limits, with his body dumped in a nearby drain.

While fleeing in the car, the accused met with an accident near Khamarbahal under Bhasma police limits. One suspect died on the spot, while two others sustained critical injuries. Initially treated as a road accident, police later uncovered the gruesome murder plot, sparking shock across the district.

Money Dispute Sparks Brutal Attack

Meanwhile in Bhubaneswar, Lingraj police arrested four persons, including two minors, in connection with a violent attack linked to financial dealings.

The accused — identified as Bhuban Mohanty and Sobhan Sharma along with two juveniles — were nabbed near the Puri-Bhubaneswar bypass road. The attack left a youth, Sandeep Samartha, grievously injured with deep wounds on his hands and legs.

Locals rescued him and admitted him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police registered a case based on his statement and launched a probe into the assault.

Abduction Attempt

Elsewhere in Balangir district, a shocking attempted abduction and assault on a minor girl has stirred outrage. The incident occurred in Belpada police limits when four men stormed a house searching for a woman. Unable to find her, they allegedly dragged out her 16-year-old daughter, attacking her with knives when she resisted.

The girl sustained injuries to her hands and back before locals intervened, forcing the attackers to flee. The prime accused has been identified as Muna Behera of Muribahal police limits. Police have registered a case and begun investigation.
