Meanwhile, in Bhadrak district, the suspicious death of a retired nurse has raised serious questions. Kumudini Mahapatra, a resident of Bant Chhak, was found dead inside her home, allegedly by hanging herself with a bedsheet tied to the cot.
She reportedly lived with her husband, Rajiv Lochan Mahanty, a retired government employee. Reports suggest that the couple had a heated argument the previous night, leading to suspicions of foul play. While initial findings point to suicide, Kumudini’s relatives have accused her husband of murder.
Town police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have assured that all angles, including family disputes and possible homicide, will be thoroughly examined.
Both incidents have shocked local communities, highlighting
issues of personal enmity and domestic discord. Police in Ganjam and Bhadrak
are continuing their investigations to ensure justice is served.
