Five Held for Robbing Driver of Cash, Forced Digital Transaction

Brahmapur, Aug 23: Brahmapur Sadar police arrested five people for assaulting a vehicle driver and robbing him of cash and money through a digital payment transaction in Baulajholi, a source said on Sunday.

The arrested persons were identified as Mukesh Bisoyi, Sangram Bisoyi, Kahna Bisoyi and Pappu Bisoyi, all from Baulajholi village, and Bhikari Das alias Chumpi (21) from Bandhupalli village.

According to police, the accused were traced within a few hours of the alleged crime. Police recovered the complainant's motorcycle, mobile phone, cash and weapons from their possession.

The incident occurred when Bhairab Kumar Sahu of Kukudakhandi was transporting two bulls from Kanchuru to Dengapadar in his vehicle. Six unidentified persons allegedly intercepted him on the Baulajholi canal road and assaulted him.

The accused allegedly snatched Rs 1,500 in cash and his mobile phone before forcibly transferring another Rs 22,500 from his account through PhonePe.

Following a complaint, Brahmapur Sadar police registered Case No. 544/2026 and arrested the five accused. They were subsequently forwarded to court.

Jewellery Trader’s House Robbed In Balangir
A major robbery took place at the house of a jewellery trader in Sindhekela area of Balangir district, barely 100 metres from the local police station.

According to the complaint, six armed robbers arrived at the house of gold trader Phulchand Jain in a new Mahindra Bolero around 3 am. While four of them entered the house, two others remained outside.


At the time, Jain, his elderly wife and granddaughter were present at the house. His son and daughter-in-law had gone to Raipur for medical purposes.

The robbers allegedly assaulted Jain and his wife and threatened them with weapons before looting valuables from the house. They also took away the hard disk containing CCTV footage installed at the residence.

The family subsequently lodged a complaint at the Sindhekela police station. According to the complaint, gold jewellery and cash worth around Rs 1 crore were looted.

Sindhekela police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
