One-Sided Love

In Bhadrak district, a schoolgirl narrowly escaped a horrific attack. The incident occurred at Lejara Chhak under Dhusuri police limits, where a married man named Dillip Jena, also known as Raju, allegedly poured petrol on the girl in an attempt to set her ablaze.

Reports suggest Jena had been harassing the girl with repeated one-sided proposals of love. After she rejected him, he resorted to violence.

Local residents intervened and rescued the girl before police arrived at the scene. Jena was taken into custody, and a formal complaint has been lodged by the girl’s family.

The disturbing trends of mob justice and gender-based violence serve as grim reminders of the urgent need for stricter enforcement of laws, and swift justice to prevent such acts of violence.
