Bijepur, Oct 23: The body of an 8-year-old boy was recovered in Karnapa village under the T. Gandapali panchayat in Baragada district’s Bijepur police station limits, a source said on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Ghanshyam Bhoi, had been missing since October 21. His father, Rajendra Bhoi, had circulated a missing-person poster on social media seeking information about the child.
After an extensive search, the boy’s body was found in an injured condition. His family alleged that he had been murdered, pointing to a serious injury to his head.
Speaking about the incident, the boy’s uncle said the family had searched extensively for him but failed to find him.

“The child had been missing for the last two days. We searched relentlessly, but all our efforts went in vain. My brother even went to a sacred cow to seek the child’s whereabouts out of blind belief. However, we were devastated to find the child’s body here. I cannot express what we are going through,” he said.
Police have reportedly detained a suspect for questioning. The suspect is believed to be around 15 years old, according to preliminary information.
A scientific team has also reached the spot and started an investigation. Further details are awaited as police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
