Jio Platforms' record-breaking IPO enters the allotment stage after attracting over one crore applications and 22.19-times subscription, with investors closely tracking allotment status, GMP trends and listing prospects.

Mumbai, Oct 26: After rewriting India's IPO record books with more than one crore applications, Jio Platforms is preparing for the next milestone in its public market journey.

The allotment of shares for the highly subscribed Rs 30,188-crore offering is expected to be finalised on Monday, setting the stage for a closely watched stock market debut later this week.

The much-awaited allotment of shares for the Rs 30,188-crore initial public offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms is expected to be finalised on Monday after the issue received an overwhelming response from investors across categories.

The IPO, which opened for subscription on October 21 and closed on October 23, emerged as one of the most sought-after public offerings in recent years, attracting bids far in excess of the shares available.

Exchange data showed that the issue was subscribed 22.19 times overall, with investors placing bids for approximately 438.26 crore shares against the 19.75 crore shares on offer.

The IPO also created a new global milestone by garnering more than one crore applications, underscoring the strong retail and institutional enthusiasm surrounding the Reliance Group-backed digital platform company.

With the allotment process entering its final stage, investors are eagerly checking whether they have received shares while also keeping a close watch on the grey market premium (GMP), a commonly followed indicator ahead of a stock's debut on the exchanges.

However, market experts caution that GMP is an unofficial metric and should not be viewed as a reliable predictor of listing-day performance.

How to Check Jio Platforms IPO Allotment Status

Once the basis of allotment is finalised and published, applicants will be able to verify their status through the registrar, KFin Technologies.

Investors need to visit the registrar's official IPO allotment page, select Jio Platforms Limited from the list of active issues, choose an identification method such as PAN, application number or demat details, and submit the required information to view their allotment status.

Apart from the registrar's portal, investors can also check allotment details through the websites of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The information will become available only after the allotment process is completed and officially uploaded.

Grey Market Premium Signals Positive Sentiment

According to market observers, Jio Platforms shares were commanding a grey market premium of around Rs 247 on October 26. Based on the upper end of the IPO price band at Rs 1,119 per share, the GMP translates into a premium of nearly 22.07%.

If the premium remains unchanged until listing, the implied market price would be around Rs 1,366 per share.

Analysts, however, note that grey market activity is unofficial in nature, highly volatile and subject to rapid changes before listing. As a result, GMP levels should not be interpreted as a guarantee of listing gains or post-listing performance.

Strong Demand across Investor Categories

The IPO witnessed particularly robust participation from institutional investors. The qualified institutional buyers (QIB) portion was subscribed 70.55 times, making it the strongest-performing segment of the issue.

The non-institutional investor (NII) category saw subscriptions of 14 times, while the retail investor segment was subscribed 2.72 times.

Demand was also healthy in the reserved categories, with the employee portion subscribed 2.93 times and the shareholder quota attracting subscriptions of 7.60 times.

Notably, the IPO achieved full subscription within about 100 minutes of opening on October 21, making it the fastest-subscribed mega IPO in India.

Ahead of the public issue, Jio Platforms raised Rs 8,109.85 crore from 212 anchor investors at the upper end of the price band of Rs 1,065-Rs 1,119 per share, reflecting strong institutional confidence in the company.

Refunds and Listing Schedule

As per the tentative schedule, refunds for unsuccessful applicants and credit of shares to successful bidders are expected on October 27. The company's shares are scheduled to debut on both the BSE and NSE on October 28.

Applicants who fail to secure an allotment can expect the release of blocked funds through the ASBA or UPI mechanism, while successful investors should receive shares in their demat accounts before listing. Investors are advised to track official announcements for any changes to the schedule.
