Dubai, Jan 23: India has mounted a strong and expanded presence at Gulfood 2026, underscoring its growing stature in the global agri-food trade, officials said on Friday.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is leading India’s participation as the Partner Country, highlighting its role as a reliable sourcing destination and contributor to global food security.

The Indian Pavilion, spread across 1,434 square metres, has doubled in size compared to last year, reflecting the rising demand for Indian products and enhanced participation from exporters, institutions and startups. A total of 161 exhibitors are showcasing processed foods, fresh and frozen products, pulses, grains, cereals, beverages, and value-added items.

Exhibitors from 25 States and regions are participating, bringing region-specific agri-products, GI-tagged items, organic produce and innovative food solutions. The presence of national institutions such as NAFED, Spices Board, Tea Board, National Turmeric Board, and cooperative federations further strengthens India’s representation.

A key highlight is the BHARATI Pavilion, APEDA’s flagship initiative to promote agri-food and agri-tech startups. Located in the Startup Zone at the Dubai World Trade Centre, it features eight high-potential startups selected from over 100 applicants. These ventures are presenting innovative products and technology-driven solutions aligned with APEDA’s Farm to Foreign vision.

The Pavilion also includes a Culinary Area, where live demonstrations of Indian cuisines by a renowned chef are drawing global buyers and highlighting India’s culinary diversity. A dedicated Pulses, Grains and Cereals section reinforces India’s position as a leading producer and exporter of staple commodities, with emphasis on sustainability, traceability and compliance with international standards.

India’s participation spans both Dubai Expo City and the Dubai World Trade Centre, with branding campaigns across metro stations, bus wraps and other high-visibility formats enhancing India’s profile as Partner Country.

Officials said India’s presence at Gulfood 2026 is closely aligned with opportunities emerging from the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has boosted bilateral trade and market access for Indian agri-food products in the Gulf region.

Through this expanded participation, APEDA aims to strengthen buyer–seller linkages, promote Indian brands globally, support startups and exporters, and consolidate India’s role as a sustainable and innovation-driven player in the global agri-food value chain.
