Bhubaneswar, Apr 29: A day before Akshaya Tritiya, the day perceived as auspicious to buy gold, silver, and other metals, the price of the yellow metal (22 carat) jumped by Rs 400 per 10 gram to Rs 89,800.


The price of 22-carat gold ornaments was Rs 89,400 in the Bhubaneswar market yesterday. In the MCX, the price of 24-carat gold was increased by Rs 1,068 while the rate stood at Rs 96,060 at 6 am today.


The price of 24-carat gold in Bhubaneswar was Rs 97,530 per 10 gram. Similarly, the 18-carat gold price stood at Rs 73,480 per 10 gram. The price of silver was increased by Rs 146 to Rs 96,586 per kilogram.

As per tradition, people love to buy gold and silver ornaments on Akshaya Tritiya. As the prices have skyrocketed compared to last year's Akshaya Tritiya, sale of yellow metal ornaments is likely to remain low this year.
